Tryouts

Come as you are. We will find the right level.

A tryout at LASC is not a test you pass or fail. It is how we see an athlete properly so we can place them where they will actually develop. Every program is accepting athletes.

Recreation registers directly with no tryout, and neither does the free Friday night clinic. Competitive, elite and academy routes share one form. Pre-professional covers the USL W women’s and USL Academy men’s routes.

How it works

Four steps, start to placement.

No program requires a prior club, an agent, or a highlight video. Recreation requires no tryout at all.

Age groups

Work out your age group first.

For 2026–27, age groups follow the school year: each one runs from 1 August to 31 July. Find your athlete's date of birth below, then check which routes are taking that age group.

Which routes are taking each age group

Santa Clarita Valley

SCV registers separately.

Santa Clarita Valley runs its own site and its own tryout registration. If your athlete trains in SCV, use the links below rather than the forms above.

The one exception. MLS NEXT Homegrown squads stay on calendar-year eligibility — January to December — while every other route uses the school-year windows above. They are named by age group like every other team, and tagged Birth year in the team directory so the difference is visible.

Dates and places. Tryout dates, times and field locations are not published here by design — registration runs through the forms above, and the club confirms the detail with you directly. Youth routes and the two USL pre-professional routes use different Byga links.
